THE APARTMENT HOUSES
The walls are nearly 60 cm wide, made of clay and straw with the original technique, wooden beams across the building and it has the traditional countryside veranda, typical roof and windows. The buildings have south siting and the common area between them is perfect if you live in both houses, but also can function well with separate group of guests.
CROP STORAGE UNIT
The Hungarian word for this wooden storage unit that stands on its legs is ‘góré’. This type of building could be found in every old country house’s yard. Maize and any other crop was kept in the ‘góré’ as it’s airy structure makes it perfect for it’s function. Our ‘góré’ hides our sauna and laundry room. It’s a very special feeling to spend time in this unique environment.
You can enjoy the outside cooking, grilling at our outdoor ‘kitchen’. Even the worst of the washing up can be done in the outside sink.
The kids will have a fabulous time running around in the garden and enjoying the wooden playground with a sand box.
2-3 cars can park safely and comfortably in the yard (still lock it for the night).
You find fruit trees and bushes and a lovely selection of herbs in our garden. Feel free to help yourself with some fresh fruit or herbs when cooking.
Solar collectors provide the hot water and the heating at winter times; however we have the most modern gas furnace (with condensation system) in case of the Sun’s strength is not enough for the purpose. We have no air conditioning system but the 60 cm thick walls will keep the apartments 10- 15 C colder than the outside temperature even in the peak of the summer. We water from our own well; our toilets have STOP function, so we would reduce the use of water and produce of drainage. Where it is possible, we use energy saving bulbs. The buildings have insulation that is double of the regulation. The windows are made of natural thermo-glass. Rubbish is collected selectively (you find the containers cca. 100 m away from the house). We collect batteries in a locked box. The organic waste is composted in the garden, so you don’t need to throw it away.
